Once a plan is published, almost everything stays editable – only the price is locked. Here’s what you can change, what each plan state means, and how to archive or delete a plan you no longer want to offer.
Go to Plans in your backend and open the plan’s details from its row in the plans table. A side panel opens with everything you can do with that plan:
Edit: change the plan’s name, benefits, settings and more.
View: see the plan page as your readers see it.
Share: copy the link to the plan.
Duplicate: create a copy of the plan as a new draft.
Highlight or Remove: make one plan stand out on your Steady page. More about highlighting a plan
Hide or Show: take the plan off your Steady page while keeping it available through its link. More about hidden plans
Archive: stop selling the plan.
Publish: put a draft or an archived plan live.
Delete: only shown if nobody has ever subscribed to the plan.
View and Share only appear for live and hidden plans.
The plans table shows the state of each plan:
Draft: not visible to anyone yet. You can still change everything, including the price.
Live: shown on your Steady page and in the checkout. Anyone can join.
Hidden: published, but not shown on your Steady page or in the checkout. Only people with the plan’s link can join.
Archived: nobody can join any more. Existing members keep their membership. You can publish an archived plan again at any time.
If you made a plan a limited-time offer, it disappears from your Steady page and checkout once the end date has passed. Nobody can join it after that, but existing members stay.
Open the plan’s side panel, click Edit, make your changes and click Save. These can be changed at any time, even if the plan already has members:
name and plan image
benefits and the text on the button
the plan’s settings: a goal, a limited-time offer, gift memberships and hiding the plan
The price is locked as soon as you publish a plan – whether or not anyone has joined yet. While a plan is still a draft, you can change the price freely.
Raising the price: click Increase prices in the plan’s Pricing section. You can do this once per plan per year. More about increasing your plan prices
Lowering the price isn’t possible. Archive the plan and offer a new one at the lower price instead.
Some settings apply to all your plans at once. You’ll find them under Plans → Plan Settings:
Billing cycle: Monthly plans only, Annual plans only or Offer both. Every plan has a monthly and an annual price – this setting decides which of them new members can choose.
Free trial period: turn the free trial on or off and choose between 30 and 7 days. The free trial doesn’t apply to gift memberships, and members who take an introductory offer don’t get it either.
Changing these settings doesn’t affect existing members.
Archive a plan when you no longer want to sell it. Open the plan’s side panel, click Archive and confirm.
The plan disappears from your Steady page and checkout, and nobody can join it any more.
Existing members stay in the plan and keep paying their price unless they cancel. You keep delivering the benefits you promised them.
To sell the plan again, open its side panel and click Publish.
You can only delete a plan that nobody has ever subscribed to – this includes members who have since cancelled. In that case, Delete appears in the plan’s side panel. If the plan has or had members, archive it instead.
